The workshop is called Get Your Holidays In Gear. It will be very similar to my signature Get Your Year In Gear class, but we will be very narrowly focused on getting the most from your Christmas Season (and I mean that from a personal and a business perspective). You will leave the class knowing exactly what you want from your Christmas holidays, strategies to get you there and a calendar that will work for you, not against you.

"Christmas for most of us is a collection of fantastic expectations and heartbreaking disappointments. We want a Currier and Ives Christmas and end up with `As the World Turns.'" - Alice S. Lawhead

***What this class is not***
This class is not about discussing specific Holiday selling strategies. There are tons of those on UnitNet.
This is about making choices that will give you the Christmas you and your family really want as well as
designing a strategy for the “when” of earning the holiday profits you know are possible.
Your holidays will not only be sane, they will be enjoyable and fulfilling.

Wondering if this class is for you? Consider these questions:

-Is Christmas a time of spiritual renewal for you?

-Are you and your family under so much stress and pressure during the Christmas season that you just hope to survive it – never mind enjoy it?

-Do you and your family know when you are working and when you are not working during the frenzied holiday selling season? (Do you know what “not working” even looks like?!)

-Do you have time set aside for special, family and faith nurturing holiday traditions?

-Are you comfortable with the gift-giving patterns of your family? Does your spending for Christmas reflect your faith and your values?

-Do you have a plan for how to manage your business and family priorities so that Christmas is a joyful holiday season for you and your loved ones?

-Do you have a spending plan that will guide your holiday purchases?

Do your answers make you feel a need to change some of your Christmas celebrations? Thought they might.

I want to tell you a story about me
and my relationship with the Christmas season.

For much of my life I was simply a grinch the entire month of December. The closer Christmas got, the worse my mood – I don’t know any other way to put it. One time I was in the mall with my brothers doing some last minute Christmas shopping (because I did not enjoy it, I always did in a blind frenzy). I was standing in a music store and all of a sudden I heard a voice say, “You’ve just got to smile. It can’t be that bad.” I looked up and saw an older gentleman with a very annoying twinkle in his eye looking at me. I didn’t say anything and hoped he would go away. He didn’t. He just stood there, waiting. I figured the only way he was going to leave was for me to muster a sincere smile, so that is exactly what I did. He winked at me and said, “That is so much better.” And then he was gone.

I’d like to say that from that day forth I was no longer a grinch, but that would be a lie. I will say that that day marked the beginning of a journey for me. The twinkle in that man’s eye just would not leave my thoughts. Slowly but surely, it worked on my spirit and chipped away at my nasty attitude. Was there a way to enjoy the Christmas Season? Could I design a celebration that was meaningful and fulfilling?

Then I found a book called Unplug the Christmas Machine and it changed my life. Through the page of that book, I examined my believes and values about Christmas, make choices that could create a celebration that gave me joy and designed a workable plan that kept my Christmas season on track and meaningful.

Much of our class will be based on Unplug the Christmas Machine, but you won’t need a copy of it to participate. (Of course if you would like to get one, go here). We’ll also be drawing from some of the tools and techniques I teach in the Get Your Year In Gear class.
