Leaders are Made. Leaders are not born. The same can be said about artists. Leaders may have the potential but what makes a great leader is practice.

Some say that leaders are born. There may be truth to this because some people have the authoritative and distinctive airs that are normal to those who eventually become leaders. These character traits allow them to stand out in a crowd. Now these are natural and not learned.

In order to lead, you must have these attributes:

1. Adventurous. You should be open to the idea of exploring and breaking new ground. Challenging the status quo, standing up for beliefs, risking rejection, rebelling against authority and innovation are only a few examples of this trait.

2. Influential. Has a logical argument, persistence, enthusiastic and can paint a picture clearly for everyone to see.

3. Constantly in search of improving your surroundings and always confident in conversing with people. Manages to get points across.

4. Has a drive that can dominate people and the desire to make one’s self different from the others in order to leave a mark.

5. Understands Delegation. To be a successful leader, you must understand the importance of delegation. You can lead if you are doing all the work!

You can become a leader by modifying your style a bit. You don’t have to totally change who you are. Take for example your persuasiveness. You will have a harder time being charismatic if you don’t have that innate trait. Work with what you have.

If you are strongly conservative or cautious of people accepting you, then you won’t see the big picture. You won’t be able to shift your passion for taking on risks because you are afraid of rejection.

A leader is made if he works on the skills mentioned above and practices them. He doesn’t have to rebel and challenge every status quo in order to get his point through. He just has to lead.

To Your Delegating Success!

Here are 10 great tips to staying organized!

1. Set aside one minute per folder and recycle any papers you no longer need.
2. Set a timer for ten minutes, grab a garbage bag, open the junk drawer, pick through anything no longer needed and toss it in the garbage.
3. Go through your clothes closet and choose five articles of clothing you never wear. Put them in a donation bag, to be given to your favorite charity.
4. Walk around your home for ten minutes with a hamper (or have your kids do this) and put any stray toys into the hamper. Tomorrow, make your 10-minute organizing project to put all the toys back in their proper homes.
5. Write out all of your birthday, anniversary and other greeting cards for one month. Address them, stamp them and send them out.
6. If you dread spending an entire hour each time you have to pay your bills, just take ten minutes each day to do this task instead. Leave your bill paying supplies out and available, so that you can pay the bills as you get them without having to take all of your supplies out each time.
7. Whether you’ve been meaning to make an appointment with a doctor, your accountant, a repairman or a friend, take 10 minutes at this moment to do so.
8. Spend 10 minutes deleting any email you no longer need from your inbox.
9. Whether the surface is a table, a dresser, a desk or an ottoman, remove any clutter so you can actually see the surface again. File any papers needing filing, return any stray items to their rightful homes and toss any junk.
10. Toss old makeup you never use, expired prescriptions and anything else you don’t need. Save your treasured room for the belongings you in fact use.

Not all stress is bad. Stress can start change, aid you in focusing the task at hand, and in some cases can even save your life. Although a build up of stress can result in major risks. Do not let stress accumulate otherwise the result can be fatal.

There are tips and steps in managing your stress. The first thing you need to do is determine and understand the cause of your stress or the stressors. By recognizing the stressors, you can put each of them in place and deal with them one by one.

Breathing And Relaxing

Oxygen is very important to the body. Taking a deep breath adds oxygen to the system, which can help you relax. Learning how to breathe can help you maintain your self-control in a stressful situation.

You can start by taking a deep breath. Stand up and stretch. Always remember that the opposite of stress is relaxation. Take a short walk, get a glass a glass of water and do something that can change your focus. Try smiling and take a short moment focusing on something else other than your problem. By the time you get back to your problem, it would not seem nearly as undefeatable.

Enjoy The Good Things Of Life And Be Positive

Sometimes you can forget to enjoy the good things of life if you let stressful events build up. Remember that life offers more things other than work. Reserve some time to actually recognize the good things in your life.

Every situation has both pros and cons. List them both, put them away and take a second look tomorrow. Sleeping on a situation can sometimes changes disadvantages to advantages.

Everything in this world exists in a balance. Negative can never occur without the positive. Learn to find good in your stressful situation and try to change every negative events into positive.

Know Yourself And Your Limitations

To manage stress effectively, it is very important to know yourself and your limitations. Sometimes, learning to say “No” can spare you from stress build up.

Most situations can be out of control. Always be positive and refrain from blaming yourself. If you continuously beat yourself with guilt, not only will you not be able to manage your stress but worsen the situation.

There are other several ways to help you manage your stress. If you are into books, sometimes taking time by reading your favorite book can help you in putting the problem away from your mind. Taking a warm bath and watching your favorite show on TV can also help you.

By managing and planning your time and prioritizing the most important things first can prevent stress from building up. Always remember that the keyword in better stress management is Relaxation.

Paper sometimes takes over our lives and is often the worst thing to get organized. Below are a few tips on how to tame that paper beast in your home or office.

Utilize your filing system effectively. Figure out what system will work best for you - client files versus project files, color coding, and so on. Once you’ve worked out your system, make sure to use it. File all relevant information in the right file. It’s also helpful to attach blank sheets of paper to the inside right back flap of file folders. Then, you can take notes on applicable conversations, memos, and meetings right where you need them.

Employ a task list for projects. Think through the project step by step. Then, create a list for all these steps, or tasks, to help you get them completed. Keep your task list stapled to the inside front cover of your project file. That way you can refer to the list whenever you work on that project. Also include on this list what you can delegate.

Avoid paper piles. There are normally two things that happen to information buried in a paper pile - either it is forgotten or it can’t be found when you need it. Paper piles are like the plague - they should be avoided at all costs. When you acquire a piece of paper, you should do one of three things: file it, write the information down elsewhere (such as in your scheduler) and toss it, or simply toss it.

Avoid always putting information on sticky notes and other tiny pieces of paper: If you need to write something down, put it on your Master Plan or on your to-do list. While it’s okay to use a reminder such as a sticky note every once in a while, using such notes all the time will make them less obvious and-as a result-less helpful.

Finding the balance between work and for play isn’t easy at times. We exist in a world where anyone, at almost any time, can get a hold of us. Not to mention the reality that information is coming at us from everywhere. Newspapers, TV, radio, websites, …the list can go on and on.

Finding the time to work on your relationships with others, at home or at work, is an essential part of whether life seems controllable, pleasurable and balanced. However a lot of us feel so fragmented and overwhelmed because we aren’t achieving that sense of balance.

Like most people, we never appear to have sufficient hours in the day to get everything completed. Taking the time to make creative changes in your life can really mean the difference between simply making a living and having a LIFE.

Take control of your physical environment. You can find roughly 333 more hours (Eight 40-hour weeks) in any given year by getting and staying organized. The less time you spend running around searching for things, the more time you will have for what is significant to you.

Prioritize what is in fact needed and important to you. Be “ruthless” about what you keep. You have a finite amount of space-use the “real estate” for those things you need and treasure.

Eliminate what you don’t need. Not everything has to go the way of the dumpster. Donate to a charity or sell the items and allow yourself the freedom from feeling guilty or wasteful. If you aren’t using it, chances are someone else can.

Contain things properly. Consider about where you would look for items reasonably and what type of like bits and pieces can be contained right along with them.

Schedule time to maintain your new found organized self and surroundings.

To Your Delegating Success,

Taking the time to tackle the inbox is taking your away from time tackling your business. Why not delegate that part of your day to your assistant or virtual assistant (who says they need to answer them from YOUR office?) You’d be surprised how much time magically appears each day

If you are like most direct selling leaders, your typical week is filled with meetings, classes and appointments. This makes setting time aside for delegating hard.

Start by setting aside a day each week (if you can’t do a full day, start with an afternoon or morning) to doing only office work - no meetings. Schedule out an hour or two of your office day or period to do effective delegating.

Use this time to have “staff meetings” with your assistant (s) and contractors. Giving yourself the appropriate time needed for effective delegating will make this process easy and something that will become natural.

Let me know if you use this idea - and how it is going!

I came across an interesting poll this past week done by Fitness Magazine.

This recent poll asked 1000 women over the age of 18, “What Would You Do To Be An “Ideal” Weight?

I was surprised at the results. Here they are:

* 23% would spend a week in jail
* 23% would shave their head
* 22% would wear a bikini on TV
* 85% would rather have an extra toe than an extra 50 lbs

An extra toe? Yikes! After reading this, I couldn’t help but wonder what we could do if we turned this focus and drive towards our daily priorities and to do list.

So let me ask you this?

“What Would You Do To Have An Extra Hour Each Day - 5 Extra Hours a Week - or better yet, 20 Extra Hours a Month?

The answer is simple. Prioritize and Delegate. There is no need to shave your head or have 11 toes

If you want to be successful in business - you need to know what you want to accomplish and prioritize it.

Prioritize everything! Rather than listing the top three items to be done, list everything and assign a number (from 1 to infinity… and for most entrepreneurs, the list seems that long!).

Then, get to work. Start at one and begin working down. Periodically you’ll have to re-prioritize as changes occur in your business. Task management programs such as Microsoft Outlook can help with prioritization. Even just a Microsoft Word document with an auto-numbering feature is better than nothing.

If you start working on the first one and keep going until you cannot work any more on it, then move to the next point on your list, you’ll see two things happen:

First, your productivity will increase dramatically because you’ll have started to hone in on doing what needs to be done.

And, second, you will work far more efficiently because you know the most important thing to do and you’re doing it first, before everything else.

Have a Productive Day!
